The tape counter seems to count in seconds and this is not very standard for these systems. The unit is nice for the price but I would have liked to see an ONKYO " INTEGRA" line quality.
One would not expect a basic tape deck to not be able to play or record cassettes, but it appears to be a fairly common problem with a sensor in the unit. This deck was purchased for a general music classroom. It did not work out of the box but unfortunately was past the 30 day period when it was tested out. We are now trying to deal with a service center in another state and are out money for shipping on a brand new unit. Poor experience with Onkyo.
I love that thing. I love tapes. A bit noisy when the tape stops or gets to the end and going backwards but that sound. Combined with Onkyo TX-SR606. Would recommend. O YES.
Tape Deck A does not work any more. I bought this deck to replace my old Sony deck that died after 17 years. The Onkyo TA-RW255 I have is barely beyond the warranty period of 1 year and it is already showing problems. I can still use Deck B to play. With this kind of quality I am not buying another Onkyo product any time soon.
Got this unit from Vann's and A deck (play, not record deck)stopped working after about three weeks. Vann's (great place) replaced it. Second unit worked for about two months and then A deck went again. Enough said.
